With a simultaneous live theatre performance at 100 locations in Germany, the UN Children’s Fund Unicef will call for a dialogue on the future of children on 11 May. In Rhineland-Palatinate, campaigns are planned in Koblenz, Trier and Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, in Saarland in Saarbrücken and in St. Wendel. 100 players per location should participate, Unicef Deutschland announced in Cologne on Wednesday. Anyone aged 16 or over can take part in the „Theater der 10.000“. Neither previous knowledge nor acting skills are necessary. „We want to use the possibilities of art to make a difference in reality,“ explained artistic director Leonie Pichler.
The half-hour campaign begins on 11 May at 12.19 pm. Only then will all participants throughout Germany learn what they should perform via an audio file that they can load onto their smartphone. They receive stage directions via headphones. The play deals with the earth, which has become an almost uninhabitable place due to wars, droughts and food shortages, it continued. The performance participants should set the course for a better future. The project concludes the Unicef campaign „#kindhood custom peace“ for children at war and on the run.
